The New England Patriots have waived rookie running back Nick Brossette, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
The NFL’s 53-man roster deadline passed at 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
Brossette had signed with New England as an undrafted free agent in May. The 6-foot, 212-pound back out of LSU proceeded to lead the league in preseason rushing yards by the end of August.
Brossette tallied 212 yards and three touchdowns on 65 carries for New England, and picked up an additional 36 yards by way of five catches.
But the committee ahead remained ahead.
New England’s backfield depth chart stands with Sony Michel, Damien Harris, James White, Rex Burkhead and Brandon Bolden as the calendar turns over to September.
