The New England Patriots returned on New Year’s Day with helmets, shells and perfect practice attendance.
But seven remained limited for New England as the Tennessee Titans near, including a pair of 2009 draft picks in wide receiver Julian Edelman and cornerback Jason McCourty.
Here’s the second injury report heading into Saturday’s 8:15 p.m. ET wild-card kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: no players listed
- Titans: WR Adam Humphries (ankle)
While the Patriots have twice practiced with a full active roster this week, one receiver has stayed sidelined for both of Tennessee’s.
Humphries, who arrived on a four-year, $36 million pact in March, missed the final four games of the regular season due to an ankle injury. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer collected 37 passes for 374 yards and two scores for the Titans prior to then.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: WR Julian Edelman (knee/shoulder), OT Marcus Cannon (ankle), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), LB Jamie Collins (shoulder), CB Jason McCourty (groin), CB Jonathan Jones (groin), S Terrence Brooks (groin)
- Titans: WR Cody Hollister (ankle), WR Kalif Raymond (concussion), OT Jack Conklin (knee)
New England’s limited continue include a trio of defensive backs due to groin injuries. And the limited also continue to include Edelman, who has played through chest, shoulder and knee ailments dating back to the fall. Edelman finished 2019 with 100 receptions for a career-high 1,117 yards and six touchdowns, but did not start last Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.
At right tackle for the Titans, Conklin was added to the the injury report because of a knee injury. And out wide, Raymond went from a non-participant to a limited participant on Wednesday. Raymond had been ruled out ahead of the December finale after entering concussion protocol. A fellow Tennessee target in Hollister has now notched consecutive limited practices. The 2017 Patriots undrafted free agent has seen action in five games since his elevation from the practice squad.
FULL PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: no players listed
- Titans: LB Daren Bates (shoulder), CB Adoree’ Jackson (foot)
No Patriot has gone from limited to full participation during wild-card week.
Two Titans have. Previously limited with a shoulder injury, Bates stands with the third-most snaps on Tennessee’s special teams despite missing three contests over the past month. And Jackson, who was upgraded to full on Tuesday, has been out of the Tennessee secondary since suffering a foot injury on Dec. 1. Jackson started 10 of the campaign’s initial 11 games, earning the highest defensive grade among the Titans’ cornerbacks in the process, according to Pro Football Focus.
