Bret Bielema will go from Foxborough to East Rutherford.
The New York Giants are hiring Bielema, who served as the New England Patriots’ defensive line coach this past season, to a position on head coach Joe Judge’s staff, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday evening.
Bielema, 50, had arrived in New England as a consultant in 2018. He’d spent the previous five years as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and was head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers from 2006 through 2012.
Brendan Daly’s departure for the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason created a vacancy on New England’s D-line. Bielema’s departure this offseason now leaves the Patriots with another.
Special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach are also open for New England as the new league year draws closer. Judge held both titles before being announced as the 19th head coach in Giants franchise history on Jan. 8.
