The biggest story of the NFL’s offseason will undoubtably be the future of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The 42-year-old, after all, is scheduled to enter unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career and there is a chance that he leaves the team with which he has won six Super Bowls. Of course, only time will tell what happens with Brady but the speculation surrounding him is already at an incredibly high level.
Just take a look at social media, and what a simple post by the future Hall of Famer can do. Brady shared a cryptic picture on his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Thursday afternoon, and it generated quite the buzz. Within 15 minutes it was retweeted over 4,000 times while generating over 100,000 likes — all because nobody seems to know how to interpret the black-and-white image of Brady entering Gillette Stadium:
So, what does it mean? Probably nothing in particular, but Brady and his social media team know that they can stir the pot with a post like this and go viral immediately. Too big of a storyline is his future, after all, even with the Super Bowl being just three days away. One thing we do know at this point, however: the next few weeks will be both fascinatingly interesting and incredibly exhausting. March can’t arrive soon enough.
