One remained absent while five, including outside linebacker Derek Rivers, were limited for the New England Patriots on Thursday.
Ahead are the San Francisco 49ers for a team that has started the clock on center David Andrews, defensive tackle Beau Allen and linebacker Josh Uche to return from injured reserve, placed offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor on injured reserve and activated a trio from Covid-19 reserve.
Here is the updated injury report heading into Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: RB James White (not injury related)
- 49ers: RB Raheem Mostert (ankle), LB Kwon Alexander (ankle), S Jaquiski Tartt (groin)
White marked the lone non-participant for New England’s active roster after Eluemunor went on IR Wednesday. The running back and team captain has now missed consecutive practices for non-injury reasons.
The 49ers continued without three starters on Thursday. Both Mostert, who is averaging nearly six yards per carry, and Alexander, who is averaging six tackles per game, have been diagnosed with high-ankle sprains. And in the San Francisco secondary, Tartt suffered a groin injury during Sunday night’s 24-16 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: WR Julian Edelman (knee), G Shaq Mason (calf), DT Adam Butler (shoulder), LB Derek Rivers (back), S Kyle Dugger (ankle)
- 49ers: RB Jeff Wilson Jr. (calf), OT Trent Williams (ankle)
Rivers joined New England’s limited a day after Dugger. The outside linebacker, cleared from the Covid-19 reserve list after missing the 18-12 loss to the Denver Broncos, had practiced fully to open the week. It is a back issue for Rivers. The Youngstown State product has registered 1.5 sacks over four appearances this campaign for the Patriots.
Williams returned to practice for San Francisco. The perennial Pro Bowl left tackle did so in a partial capacity after undergoing further testing on an ankle injury he dealt with versus Los Angeles.
FULL PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: no players listed
- 49ers: CB Dontae Johnson (groin)
No Patriots graduated from limited to full availability on Thursday.
But Johnson did for the 49ers. The veteran cornerback, recently among San Francisco’s inactives due to a groin injury, saw 95 percent of the defensive workload in his last outing.
