New England Patriots defensive backs Stephon Gilmore, Jonathan Jones and Terrence Brooks returned to the practice fields on Friday.
A knee injury has seen the 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year miss consecutive games, while illnesses saw both Jones and Brooks miss New England’s previous session.
Each would be limited and among 17 officially listed as questionable to face the Baltimore Ravens.
Here are the game statuses ahead of Sunday’s 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
OUT
- Patriots: no players listed
- Ravens: DE Calais Campbell (calf)
The Patriots have yet to downgrade as the weekend begins.
But the Ravens began and ended the week with Campbell sidelined by a calf injury. The perennial Pro Bowl defensive end and reigning Walter Payton Man of the Year has since been ruled out for the visit to Foxborough, snapping a streak that spanned 98 starts dating back to 2014 while with the Arizona Cardinals. Campbell has registered 24 tackles, four sacks and six batted passes this fall.
DOUBTFUL
- Patriots: no players listed
- Ravens: CB Jimmy Smith (ankle)
The Baltimore secondary went without Smith for three practices in a row because of an ankle injury. The veteran cornerback has appeared in every game this campaign, starting half, and handled all 68 snaps during his latest outing.
“I would not be afraid to play Jimmy if he felt good enough,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters during his Friday video conference. “We’ll just have to see where that’s at.”
QUESTIONABLE
- Patriots: RB Damien Harris (ankle/chest), WR N’Keal Harry (concussion), TE Ryan Izzo (hamstring), OT Isaiah Wynn (ankle), G Joe Thuney (ankle), G Shaq Mason (calf), DT Lawrence Guy (shoulder/elbow/knee), DE Deatrich Wise (knee/hand), LB John Simon (elbow), LB Shilique Calhoun (knee), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (groin), CB Stephon Gilmore (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (illness), S Terrence Brooks (illness), S Kyle Dugger (ankle), S Cody Davis (calf), K Nick Folk (back)
- Ravens: RB Mark Ingram II (ankle), LB Matthew Judon (calf), LB L.J. Fort (finger)
Running back J.J. Taylor, defensive tackle Carl Davis and cornerback J.C. Jackson will go without a game designation for the Patriots. But four of those remaining questionable, including the aforementioned Gilmore, were inactive for New England’s Monday night win over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
The Baltimore backfield, meanwhile, is questionable to have Ingram on hand due to an October ankle injury. The former Heisman Trophy winner out of Alabama went from limited on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday and Friday. A pair of Ravens teammates across the line of scrimmage are also 50-50.
