The New England Patriots reconvened for Wednesday’s practice with a full active roster.
But 13 were limited participants, with new listings for tight end Ryan Izzo, defensive tackle Adam Butler and linebacker Terez Hall, as Houston Texans prep got underway.
Here’s the first injury report heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at NRG Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: no players listed
- Texans: RB Duke Johnson (illness), WR Kenny Stills (back), OT Laremy Tunsil (illness), S Michael Thomas (shoulder), P Bryan Anger (right quad)
The 21-day clock for rookie offensive tackle Justin Herron to return from injured reserve has been started by New England. The Wake Forest product was spotted on the practice fields Wednesday.
The Texans went without five to begin the week. In the backfield, Johnson has totaled 127 yards and one touchdown from scrimmage since the calendar turned to November. And on the line, Tunsil has played all 548 offensive snaps since the start of the regular season. Illnesses kept both from participating for Houston.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: RB Damien Harris (ankle/chest), TE Ryan Izzo (hamstring/hand), OT Isaiah Wynn (ankle), G Joe Thuney (ankle), G Shaq Mason (calf), DT Lawrence Guy (shoulder/elbow/knee), DT Adam Butler (shoulder), DE Deatrich Wise (knee/hand), LB John Simon (elbow), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (groin), LB Terez Hall (shoulder), CB Stephon Gilmore (knee), K Nick Folk (back)
- Texans: G Senio Kelemete (concussion), DE Charles Omenihu (hamstring), LB Jacob Martin (not injury related)
The Patriots listed 17 game statuses leading up to last Sunday’s primetime win over the Baltimore Ravens. At tight end, Izzo was among the questionable because of a hamstring injury and is now dealing with a hand injury. But neither Butler nor Hall were designated on the defensive side of the report. The latter had been a standard elevation from the practice squad who went on to start and tally 10 tackles at inside linebacker.
A trio of Texans would be partial participants on Wednesday, including Omenihu. The former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman suffered a hamstring injury in Week 9 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars and was inactive in Week 10 versus the Cleveland Browns.
