The New England Patriots returned without Isaiah Wynn.
New England’s starting left tackle and snap leader was among the sidelined Wednesday after getting rolled up late in Week 11.
Defensive tackle Carl Davis and outside linebacker Tashawn Bower would also be missing from the active roster as Arizona Cardinals prep began in Foxborough. And the same held true for running back Rex Burkhead, who confirmed the end of his season, while rookie tight end Devin Asiasi had his 21-day practice window opened.
Here’s the first injury report heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: RB Rex Burkhead (knee), OT Isaiah Wynn (knee), DT Carl Davis (concussion), LB Tashawn Bower (illness)
- Cardinals: WR DeAndre Hopkins (illness), TE Darrell Daniels (ankle), TE Maxx Williams (illness), DE Josh Mauro (hamstring), S Jalen Thompson (ankle), S Charles Washington (groin)
Wynn has been on the line for 640 of New England’s downs this fall. With his exit on the penultimate drive last Sunday versus the Houston Texans, Jermaine Eluemunor stepped in on the blindside. It was a game that the remainder of Wednesday’s Patriots non-participants also took the field for.
Six sat out practice for Arizona, including Hopkins due to an illness. The perennial first-team All-Pro wide receiver stands with 72 catches for 912 yards and four touchdowns on the campaign.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: WR N’Keal Harry (shoulder), WR Matthew Slater (knee), TE Ryan Izzo (hamstring/hand), G Joe Thuney (ankle), G Shaq Mason (calf), DT Lawrence Guy (shoulder/elbow/knee), DT Adam Butler (shoulder), DT Byron Cowart (back), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (groin), CB Stephon Gilmore (hand), K Nick Folk (back)
- Cardinals: QB Kyler Murray (right shoulder), OL Justin Murray (hand)
The Patriots had 11 limited participants on Wednesday, with Cowart along the defensive line being an addition to the report. And Gilmore, who had missed three weeks with a knee injury, is now managing a hand injury after playing 90 percent of the snaps at cornerback in his initial game back.
A pair of Murrays practiced in a partial capacity for the Cardinals. The MVP candidate at quarterback played through an injury to his throwing shoulder last week versus the Seattle Seahawks, attempting 42 passes.
