Thanksgiving will look different this year, and the NFL is no exception: the prime time matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus, with only two games remaining on the schedule — two games that feature four teams with a losing record. This should be fun, y’all!
With that said, here’s how you can watch the games and who New England Patriots fans should root for.
Houston Texans (3-7) at Detroit Lions (4-6)
When: 12:30 p.m. ET
Where: Ford Field, Detroit MI
Television: CBS
Live streaming: fuboTV (Try for free here!)
SB Nation coverage: Battle Red Blog (Texans), Pride of Detroit (Lions)
Patriots rooting guide: Go Lions! One week after the Patriots’ loss in Houston, their fans should root against the Texans again — for one simple reason: playoff tiebreakers. A Texans win, after all, would improve New England’s strength of schedule but simultaneously also the strength of victory tiebreakers for their wild card competitors. This, in turn, would work against the Patriots. Of course, their odds of reaching the postseason are slim to begin with, but it could all come down to which team has the tiebreakers on its side.
Washington Football Team (3-7) at Dallas Cowboys (3-7)
When: 8:15 p.m. ET
Where: AT&T Stadium Arlington TX
Television: FOX
Live streaming: fuboTV (Try for free here!)
SB Nation coverage: Hogs Haven (Football Team), Blogging the Boys (Cowboys)
Patriots rooting guide: Go Football Team! While the game between the two NFC East rivals has no direct impact on the AFC playoff picture and the Patriots’ place in it, New England will still root for the visitors. Dallas, after all, sent its sixth-round draft pick next year to the Patriots in exchange for defensive lineman Michael Bennett. The more games the Cowboys lose, the better the position and the higher the value of that pick.
