The New England Patriots practiced inside the Empower Field House on Wednesday, and with perfect attendance to pair with the return of wide receiver Julian Edelman and outside linebacker Shilique Calhoun.
But 13 members of the active roster were limited as prep for the Miami Dolphins got underway, including running back James White.
Here’s the initial injury report heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET AFC East matchup at Hard Rock Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: no players listed
- Dolphins: TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder), S Bobby McCain (ankle)
The aforementioned Edelman and Calhoun remain on injured reserve for New England as their 21-day practice windows begin.
Two starters were sidelined for the Dolphins on Wednesday. Gesicki has caught four touchdowns over Miami’s last three games while McCain has registered 40 tackles and an interception on the campaign. The tight end and safety are managing shoulder and ankle injuries, respectively.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: RB James White (foot), RB J.J. Taylor (quadricep), WR Donte Moncrief (thigh), WR Matthew Slater (knee), OT Jermaine Eluemunor (ankle), OT Justin Herron (ankle), G Shaq Mason (calf), DT Lawrence Guy (shoulder), DT Adam Butler (shoulder), DT Byron Cowart (back), CB J.C. Jackson (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (neck), K Nick Folk (back)
- Dolphins: RB Salvon Ahmed (shoulder), WR Jakeem Grant (hamstring), WR DeVante Parker (hamstring), G Ereck Flowers (ankle), LB Elandon Roberts (chest), LB Kyle Van Noy (hip)
White’s partial practice would be due to a foot issue. The team captain was one of four new listings for New England. Moncrief at receiver as well as Eluemunor and Herron at offensive tackle were also limited participants.
Past Patriots linebackers in Roberts and Van Noy were among the Dolphins’ limited. Chest and hip injuries left both inactive last Sunday versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
FULL PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: no players listed
- Dolphins: QB Tua Tagovailoa (ankle), OT Austin Jackson (knee), G Solomon Kindley (foot), DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder), CB Xavien Howard (shoulder), S Kavon Frazier (shoulder)
The Patriots opened Week 15 work without practice designations for quarterback Cam Newton, fullback Jakob Johnson, linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley and rookie safety Kyle Dugger. Each had previously been ruled questionable. And lead running back Damien Harris, who injured his back against the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday night, also went in full.
As for the Dolphins, six practiced to that degree, including the No. 5 overall pick out of Alabama behind center.
