The New England Patriots listed 14 players as questionable on their final injury report of the week before ruling out two of them on Saturday: running back Damien Harris and wide receiver/kickoff returner Donte Moncrief did not make the trip to Miami and will therefore not be able to participate in the Patriots’ Week 15 game against the Dolphins.
This, in turn, leaves 12 players’ statuses up in the air heading into Sunday. At least one of them, however, is expected to be good to go. As first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, running back James White should be ready for the game against Miami. The veteran and team captain was limited in practice all week because of a foot injury — one of three Patriots running backs operating at less than 100 percent.
Damien Harris, as noted above, is struggling with an ankle issue, while rookie J.J. Taylor is still hampered by a quad injury that already forced him to miss three straight games. As a result, Sony Michel is the only running back on New England’s active roster with no limitations even though the former first-round draft pick missed six games earlier this season on injured reserve.
White being able to play on Sunday is naturally good news for the Patriots. Not only is he one of the best receiving backs in football, he also offers additional depth alongside early-down option Michel.
As for the Dolphins, meanwhile, they will likely be without one of their starting wide receivers. As reported by Pelissero, Jakeem Grant (hamstring) is not expected to be active today. Grant is currently ranked fourth in receptions on the team (31) and third in receiving yards (330) — all while serving as Miami’s primary return man.
While he will be out, two other starters could very well be good to go despite also being classified as questionable: wide receiver DeVante Parker (hamstring) and tight end Mike Gesicki (shoulder).
