The New England Patriots will host the Buffalo Bills with 20 questionable and without Jordan Thomas.
The tight end, sidelined for Saturday’s practice due to non-injury reasons, has since been ruled out and placed on the Covid-19 reserve list.
And on injured reserve, per New England’s pool report, wide receiver Julian Edelman and defensive tackle Carl Davis also remained non-participants to close the AFC East preparations. Both saw their 21-day return windows open last week.
Here are the game statuses for Monday’s 8:15 p.m. ET matchup at Gillette Stadium.
OUT
- Patriots: TE Jordan Thomas (not injury related)
- Bills: TE Reggie Gilliam (knee/hamstring)
Thomas joins defensive tackle Isaiah Mack on New England’s Covid-19 reserve list. A November waiver claim by way of the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, Thomas has appeared in two games for the tight end depth chart.
The Bills also ruled out one for Monday night. Gilliam, an undrafted Toledo product, had been sidelined for each Week 16 practice due to knee and hamstring injuries.
QUESTIONABLE
- Patriots: RB Damien Harris (ankle), RB J.J. Taylor (quadricep), WR Donte Moncrief (thigh), WR Matthew Slater (knee), OT Jermaine Eluemunor (ankle), OT Justin Herron (ankle), G Shaq Mason (calf), C David Andrews (calf), DT Lawrence Guy (shoulder), DT Adam Butler (shoulder), DT Byron Cowart (back), LB John Simon (hamstring), LB Shilique Calhoun (knee), LB Tashawn Bower (ankle), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder), LB Anfernee Jennings (shoulder), CB J.C. Jackson (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (neck), K Nick Folk (back), LS Joe Cardona (ankle)
- Bills: OT Ty Nsekhe (groin), S Jaquan Johnson (ankle)
Each of New England’s 20 questionable began and ended the work week as limited. And of whom, Harris at running back and Moncrief at receiver had both been downgraded from questionable to out prior to last Sunday’s meeting with the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. It was a 22-12 loss that captains in Andrews and Bentley exited with calf and shoulder injuries, respectively.
A pair are questionable for Buffalo. Yet quarterback Josh Allen, wideout Stefon Diggs, cornerback Tre’Davious White and veteran return specialist Andre Roberts will go without game designations against New England. All four Pro Bowl selections practiced in full on Saturday.
