The New England Patriots released safety J.T. Hassell from the practice squad on Tuesday, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Hassell, 25, had signed to the scout team amid a series of moves on Nov. 30.
The Florida Tech product entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2019. Through four appearances during his rookie regular season, Hassell saw 14 snaps on defense and 53 snaps on special teams to record seven tackles.
The Browns waived the 5-foot-11, 200-pound defensive back on Labor Day weekend.
New England stands with three openings on the practice squad of 16 following the recent additions of wide receiver Donte Moncrief and defensive tackle Akeem Spence to the 53-man roster, along with the reversion of rookie outside linebacker and standard elevation Rashod Berry.
The Patriots revisit SoFi Stadium for an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff Thursday versus the Los Angeles Rams.
