The New England Patriots entered the second day of the draft with a league-high 13 selections in the fold. After already adding safety Kyle Dugger in the second round, the team traded up with the Baltimore Ravens to invest in its defensive front seven: with the 60th overall selection, New England has drafted outside linebacker Josh Uche.
Uche is an intriguing developmental prospect that is only just scratching the surface of his potential. While his raw numbers at Michigan do not stand out — he had just 15.5 sacks in his four years at Michigan — his raw athletic skillset could make him a productive player if inserted into the right defensive system.
The trade itself breaks down as follows:
- New England gets: 2-60 + 4-129
- Baltimore gets: 3-71 + 3-98
According to Rich Hill’s draft value chart, the team Patriots have given up 105.98 points in the trade while receiving 107.4 in return from the Ravens.
Following the selection of Uche, the Patriots’ draft haul and remaining capital now looks as follows:
Round 1: —
Round 2: S Kyle Dugger, LB Josh Uche
Round 3: 3-87, 3-100
Round 4: 4-125, 4-129, 4-139
Round 5: 5-172
Round 6: 6-195, 6-204, 6-212, 6-213
Round 7: 7-230
