The third and final day of the NFL draft continues to roll along, and the New England Patriots have made another selection. After already adding kicker Justin Rohrwasser in the fifth round and guards Michael Onwenu and Justin Herron in the sixth, the team has now added to its linebacker position: the Patriots have drafted Cassh Maluia with the 204th overall selection in the sixth round.
A smaller but bulky linebacker at 6-foot-0, 248 pounds, Maluia played as an off-the-ball linebacker in Wyoming and projects to have a similar role at the next level. He could help fill the void created by the departure of Elandon Roberts in free agency, while also helping out on special teams.
Following the selection of Maluia, the Patriots’ draft haul and remaining capital now looks as follows:
Round 1: --
Round 2: S Kyle Dugger, LB Josh Uche
Round 3: LB Anfernee Jennings, TE Devin Asiasi, TE Dalton Keene
Round 4: --
Round 5: K Justin Rohrwasser
Round 6: G Michael Olwenu, G Justin Herron, LB Cassh Maluia
Round 7: 7-230
