The third and final day of the NFL draft continues to roll along, and the New England Patriots have made another selection. After already adding kicker Justin Rohrwasser in the fifth round and guard Michael Onwenu in the sixth, the team went back to bolster its offensive line: the Patriots have drafted guard Justin Herron out of Wake Forest with the 195th overall selection in the sixth round.
Herron, who played tackle at Wake Forest but projects to move to the inside upon entering the NFL, brings good size to the table at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds. While his balance needs improvement, he does have the quick footwork to carve out a role as an interior backup at the next level. Herron was voted a team captain in 2019, by the way.
Following the selection of Herron, the Patriots’ draft haul and remaining capital now looks as follows:
Round 1: --
Round 2: S Kyle Dugger, LB Josh Uche
Round 3: LB Anfernee Jennings, TE Devin Asiasi, TE Dalton Keene
Round 4: --
Round 5: K Justin Rohrwasser
Round 6: G Michael Olwenu, G Justin Herron, 6-204
Round 7: 7-230
