When Tom Brady eventually calls it a career, he will go down in the history books as the greatest and most successful man to ever play professional football — the face of the NFL for more than two decades. The former sixth-round draft pick became a sure-fire Hall of Famer during his time with the New England Patriots, winning an all-time best six Super Bowls and helping establish the most dominant run the league has ever seen.
Now, Brady’s legendary career will become the subject of a new, nine-part documentary series similar to smash-hit The Last Dance about basketball superstar Michael Jordan. The series will be titled Man In The Arena and is scheduled to premiere next year, as was announced via social media on Thursday.
Co-produced by ESPN together with Brady’s new company 199 Productions as well as Religion of Sports’ Gotham Chopra — who already did the online series Tom vs Time back during the 2017 season — Man In The Arena will focus on the quarterback’s careers through his own eyes and be a first-hand account of his unparalleled success in New England and the pivotal moments that helped shape his career from draft-day afterthought to GOAT.
“I’m excited to have my company 199 Productions be in business with ESPN and Disney along with our Religion of Sports partners to launch this new series that gives an inside look into the championship moments I’ve been blessed to experience,” Brady said about the project according to Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. “Through the series, we’re defining the key moments and challenges that were seemingly insurmountable, but through hard work and perseverance, became career-defining triumphs, in both victory and defeat.”
“This compelling and powerful show will entertain, inspire and have you on the edge of your seat,” the 42-year-old, who left New England earlier this offseason to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, continued. “We can’t wait to share it with the world.”
