After being waived by the New England Patriots with the injury designation on Saturday, Quincy Adeboyejo passed through unclaimed on Sunday.
The 25-year-old wide receiver has reverted to New England’s injured reserve in result, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Adeboyejo is the first player to be placed on the Patriots’ IR list for 2020. Reaching an injury settlement would allow the Ole Miss product, who signed to the practice squad last November and was retained on a futures contract in January, to become a free agent.
Adeboyejo spent parts of three campaigns with the Baltimore Ravens after going undrafted in 2017, playing 21 snaps on offense and 17 on special teams in his NFL debut. He finished last preseason with the New York Jets.
The Patriots currently have five openings on the active roster with the initial full-pads practice of training camp set for Monday.
At receiver, the depth chart includes Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski, Devin Ross and undrafted rookies Jeff Thomas, Will Hastings and Isaiah Zuber.
Both Hastings and Zuber re-signed in recent weeks after New England reduced from 90 to 80 players.
