Kicker Nick Folk and defensive tackle Xavier Williams reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Monday, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Both veterans had been designated as standard elevations to the active list ahead of the 2020 season opener against the Miami Dolphins.
Folk, 35, converted each of his three extra points and missed a 45-yard field goal in New England’s 21-11 win Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The former Dallas Cowboy, New York Jet, Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Arizona Hotshot appeared in eight games last campaign, including the AFC divisional round. Folk re-signed during training camp in the company of rookie kicker Justin Rohrwasser.
Williams, 28, recorded a pair of tackles through nine snaps on defense and one snap on special teams in his New England debut. Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2015, the Northern Iowa product has appeared in 45 career games through stops with the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Patriots currently stand with 51 players on the active roster and 16 players on the practice squad after offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste and wide receiver Gunner Olszewski were placed on injured reserve to conclude last week.
Ahead is an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink FIeld.
