Before the New England Patriots’ prime time game against the Seattle Seahawks was kicked off on Sunday, some terrible news were reported out of Florida: the parents of Patriots running back James White were involved in a car crash, with his father, Tyrone, passing away because of the accident. White’s mother, meanwhile, remains hospitalized and in critical condition.
White was unsurprisingly declared inactive for the game versus Seattle, but decided to remain in town instead of immediately flying back to his home state after being offered the opportunity by team owner Robert Kraft.
While not with the team, the captain was still on his teammates minds as a gesture by fellow veteran Devin McCourty showed in the first quarter: after returning an interception 43 yards for a touchdown, McCourty positioned himself in front of the camera, dedicating the score to his teammate with a simple but heartfelt message: “Two. Eight. We love you, bro. We love you.”
