The New England Patriots began on-field preparations for the New York Jets without five members of the active roster.

Nose tackle Davon Godchaux, defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr., linebacker Dont’a Hightower as well as cornerbacks Jonathan Jones and Shaun Wade were non-participants on Wednesday. All but Wade, who sustained a concussion earlier in October, played in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Here’s the initial injury report heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.

DID NOT PARTICIPATE

Patriots

  • DT Davon Godchaux (finger)
  • DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (knee)
  • LB Dont’a Hightower (elbow/ankle)
  • CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
  • CB Shaun Wade (concussion)

Jets

  • TE Tyler Kroft (back)
  • LB C.J. Mosley (hamstring)

The Patriots placed outside linebacker Chase Winovich on injured reserve with a hamstring injury to open the week. And on Wednesday, an additional handful from the defensive side were sidelined. Godchaux, Wise and Jones are managing finger, knee and shoulder injuries, respectively, while Hightower had been questionable to return versus Dallas due to an elbow injury. The team captain, now also dealing with an ankle issue, finished New England’s 35-29 overtime loss having logged a season-high 63 snaps on defense.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • RB Brandon Bolden (thigh)
  • G Shaq Mason (abdomen)
  • DT Christian Barmore (shoulder)
  • LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (ribs)
  • LB Josh Uche (shoulder)
  • LB Kyle Van Noy (groin)
  • LB Brandon King (thigh)
  • CB Jalen Mills (hamstring)
  • S Adrian Phillips (back)
  • S Kyle Dugger (knee)
  • K Nick Folk (left knee)

Jets

  • WR Jeff Smith (concussion)
  • DT Nathan Shepherd (knee)
  • S Marcus Maye (ankle)
  • S Adrian Colbert (concussion)

Eleven Patriots practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday. A starting right guard in Mason had been ruled out in advance of last weekend’s Cowboys matchup with an abdomen injury. But Bolden on offense and Barmore, Bentley, Uche, King, Phillips and Dugger on defense all were new arrivals among the partial participants to begin Jets preparations.

FULL PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • no players listed

Jets

  • no players listed

While unlisted for New England, quarterback Jarrett Stidham and defensive tackle Byron Cowart practiced for the first time this season after setting out on physically unable to perform. Wednesday marked the earliest eligible return date for both. In turn, the 2019 Patriots fourth- and fifth-round draft picks have 21 days to be activated to the roster. The PUP clock has yet to start for linebacker Terez Hall, who recorded 50 tackles over eight appearances last campaign.
