Mac Attack: Studying Mac Jones’ performance against the Jets

Welcome to the debut installment of Mac Attack. Each week we’ll dive into the performance from New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones, highlighting some of the good plays, bad plays, and everything in between that the 15th overall selection in this year’s draft put on film.

We picked a great week for the first edition, as Jones had his best game as an NFL passer in a 54-13 rout of the New York Jets. The young QB finished the day completing 24 of 36 passes for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns, marking his first game with more than 300 yards passing.

In this breakdown, we’ll dive into nine plays from the game, including some great reads and throws, some missed opportunities, and, yes, how that big third down scramble came to be.

As we go forward each week at Mac Attack, if there are specific plays you’d like to see included, reach out on Twitter @MarkSchofield and we’ll get those in.
