The New England Patriots will be without Henry Anderson for the rest of 2021.
According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, the veteran defensive lineman suffered a season-ending torn pectoral against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as Ian Rapoport had reported was the fear prior to MRI confirmation.
The 30-year-old Anderson exited Sunday night with what the team announced as a chest injury. He would then be downgraded from questionable to out for the remainder of New England’s 19-17 loss at Gillette Stadium after playing three snaps on defense and three snaps on special teams.
The Patriots signed Anderson to a two-year, $7 million contract in March following his release from the New York Jets. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Stanford product originally entered the league with the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2015 draft.
Through 78 games and 43 starts in his career, Anderson has recorded 170 tackles, 11.5 sacks, eight batted passes, four blocked kicks, along with one fumble forced and one recovered.
New England visits the Houston Texans for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff next Sunday at NRG Stadium.
