The New England Patriots will begin preparations for the Houston Texans without one side of the starting offensive line.
Left tackle Isaiah Wynn and left guard Mike Onwenu have both been placed on the Covid-19 reserve list, as reported Tuesday by ESPN’s Field Yates.
The transactions made the NFL wire.
Under league protocols, asymptomatic individuals who are vaccinated can return after producing two consecutive negative tests 24 hours apart. Unvaccinated individuals who test positive are required isolate for a minimum of 10 days before producing two consecutive negative tests.
Wynn, a 2018 first-round pick out of Georgia, has played all 265 offensive snaps through four games this season. Onwenu, a 2020 sixth-round pick out of Michigan, has played 239. Neither counts against the New England 53-man roster while on the Covid-19 reserve list.
Justin Herron, Yasir Durant, Yodny Cajuste and Ted Karras reside on the active roster behind starting center David Andrews, right guard Shaq Mason as well as right tackle Trent Brown, who last played in the September opener due to a calf strain.
The practice squad includes fellow offensive linemen Drake Jackson, Alex Redmond, James Ferentz and Will Sherman.
Sunday’s kickoff at NRG Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
