The New England Patriots hosted wide receiver Devin Gray and safety Elijah Benton for workouts on Tuesday, as shared by Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Gray, 26, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent from Cincinnati in 2018. The 6-foot, 192-pound wideout logged parts of three years with the Atlanta Falcons, and served as an elevation from the practice squad for the 2020 season finale. Gray joined the Baltimore Ravens in June and spent September on the practice squad after being waived at the 53-man roster deadline.
Benton, 25, went undrafted out of Liberty in 2020. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back spent his rookie season on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, playing seven snaps on special teams as an elevation last October. Benton reached a futures contract with Cleveland in January and would be waived in August.
New England’s practice squad stands at 15 as the page turns to next Sunday’s matchup with the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
