The Scho Show Episode 186: What the Sam Darnold trade means for the Patriots

Related: Jets trade quarterback Sam Darnold to the Panthers for three total draft picks

Hope.

The NFL draft is packaged hope. Manufactured hope. Commercialized hope. That hope from all 32 fanbases that with the right combination of picks, playoff glory is less than a year away. Maybe it is a new receiver, a shiny new cornerback. An athletic linebacker.

Or a quarterback.

Thanks to the New York Jets. Yes the New. York. Jets. The New England Patriots have a glimmer of hope on the quarterback front, brighter than it was just a few hours ago. Why? Because the Jets traded Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, likely taking one QB-needy team out of the 2021 quarterback market.

Here’s (relatively) instant reaction to the trade, and what it could mean for the Patriots.
