Predicting the Patriots 53 Man Roster

Taking a stab at who is and who is not going to be on the roster come 9/12/21.

QB- Newton, Jones. (Cam will be the starter at the begining of the season. However, this will not be like last year. With a number one draft pick behind you, I am sure Cam is motviated to be elite. First time it looks like last year did, insert Mac Jones and then we will not be looking back. Stidham and Hoyer get cut for other positions to be filled on the roster, but one of them might make it cause NE could carry 3 QB's.)

RB- Harris, Stevenson, White, and JJ Taylor. (Bolden and Michel are the surprises here. With Stevenson also having special teams experience, Bolden is a tough decision. I am sure Bolden can wear that new 25 elsewhere though; Miami, Giants, Houston, or the Titans maybe. Michel is some sort of trade bait at this point, message is on the wall for him.)

FB- Jakob Johnson, Dalton Keene. (Keene is also a TE but he can be used here too.)

WR- Jones, Agholor, Bourne, Meyers, and Olszewski. (NE makes a trade for Julio. Harry is traded away in the package for Julio, or gets cut/traded after the Julio trade.)

TE- Henry, Smith, Asiasi, and Keene. (Keene is a lock because of versatility. Asiasi might be a tough decision/trade bait.)

OL- Andrews, Brown, Herron, Karras, Mason, Onwenu, Redmond, and Wynn. (Herron and Karras are locks as the top back ups. Redmond adds more depth, might get cut too though.)

DL- Anderson, Barmore, Davis, Godchaux, Guy, Perkins, Winovich, and Wise. (Depth here so new comer Adams does not make it. Cowart is kind of a surpise cut. The veteran Spence is just buried and does not make it.

LB- Bentley, Hightower, Jennings, Judon, McGrone (PUP), Uche, and Van Noy. (Depth here too, so more tough decisions. Hall looked good last year, but Uche, Jennings, and McGrone make it over him. McMillan was an interesting sign but too much depth here and he just does not make it. King is a surpise cut here because of his special teams, but time to make room for other players. Langi's reunion is not going to last.

Secondary- Bryant, Dugger, Jackson, Jones, Kirkpatrick, McCourty, Mills, and Phillips. (Gilmore is traded for either Julio or another high profile player/pick. Maybe he sticks around as CB #1, but time will tell. Joejuan Williams is a surpise here but maybe he too can also be used as some sort of trade bait. Bledsoe, Colbert, and Mike Jackson Sr. might be on the outside looking in or practice squad.

ST- Bailey, Folk, Cardona, Slater, Bethel, and Cody Davis. (Bolden and King are tough decisions here.)

This roster prediction will be spot on if they trade for Julio. Surprises here are Stidham, Michel, Bolden, Cowart, Harry, Adams, McMillan, King, Joejuan Williams, and Gilmore. Kirkpatrick or Sherman could be signed to be the number 2 if they trade Gimore and move JC to number 1. However, there is still a chance that Gilmore, Michel, Harry, and Stidham end up on the first 53 man roster. Time will tell.
