On the eve of training camp, the New England Patriots placed offensive tackle Trent Brown and outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy on physically unable to perform.

Both projected starters received the active designation, according to the NFL transaction wire. In turn, both can be removed from the PUP list and begin practicing at any time.

Brown, 28, started five games for the Las Vegas Raiders last season before returning to New England via trade. Van Noy, 30, started 13 games for the Miami Dolphins before his release and subsequent re-signing.

As the initial wave of players began to report to Gillette Stadium last week, the Patriots added eight others to physically unable to perform. That list included quarterback Jarrett Stidham, since-released wide receiver Devin Smith, tight end Dalton Keene, defensive tackle Byron Cowart, linebackers Chase Winovich, Terez Hall and Brandon King, as well as cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Additionally, three rookies reside on the non-football injury list in running back Rhamondre Stevenson, linebacker Cameron McGrone and safety Joshuah Bledsoe.

New England’s first practice of camp is set for Wednesday morning.
