Rookie center Drake Jackson visited the New England Patriots for a workout on Friday, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Jackson went undrafted out of Kentucky after appearing in 47 career games and making 44 consecutive starts at the pivot. His tenure with the Wildcats concluded as a team captain in 2020, and as a second-team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press and a first-team All-SEC selection by Pro Football Focus.
The 6-foot-2, 292-pound redshirt senior attended the Reese’s Senior Bowl before signing with the Detroit Lions as a free agent in May. Jackson would later be claimed by the Houston Texans in August and was waived as NFL rosters reduced from 85 to 80.
He saw 15 offensive snaps during the preseason between both guard spots.
The Patriots concluded Friday with an opening on the active roster and a practice squad of 16. Ahead is Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET matchup with the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
