The New England Patriots returned to the practice fields with eight limited on Thursday, including safety Kyle Dugger, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers draw near.

The starting safety out of Lenoir-Rhyne has played 162 defensive snaps this fall. He would be added to New England’s side of the injury report with a hamstring issue.

Here’s the updated prognosis heading into Sunday’s 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.

  • RB James White (hip)

  • RB Giovani Bernard (knee)
  • TE Rob Gronkowski (ribs)
  • DT Steve McLendon (rest)
  • LB Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder)

The lone absence for the Patriots on Wednesday remained the lone absence on Thursday, as White’s hip subluxation is reportedly expected to end his season following further medical examinations. The 29-year-old running back and team captain had been carted off the field in Week 3. Through 22 touches this September, White accounted for 132 yards from scrimmage, one touchdown and a trusted role both in hurry-up and blitz pickup. As for Tampa Bay, Bernard at running back, Gronkowski at tight end and Pierre-Paul at outside linebacker have now been sidelined for consecutive practices this week.

  • OT Trent Brown (calf)
  • OT Isaiah Wynn (knee)
  • DL Henry Anderson (ankle)
  • LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder)
  • LB Josh Uche (back)
  • LB Kyle Van Noy (groin)
  • S Kyle Dugger (hamstring)
  • K Nick Folk (left knee)

  • CB Jamel Dean (knee)

The Patriots’ offensive line has been without its starting right tackle since early in Week 1 due to a strained calf. And in Week 3, the defensive front went without a sophomore’s pass rush due to a back issue. Both Brown and Uche continue as partial participants in practice along with six others, counting Dugger. The top pick in New England’s 2020 draft class has recorded 14 tackles this season. A trio of those tackles have netted lost yardage.

  • no players listed

  • WR Jaydon Mickens (abdomen)
  • WR Chris Godwin (thumb)
  • CB Carlton Davis (abdomen/ribs)

No members of New England’s active roster graduated from limited on Thursday. Mickens, managing an abdomen injury, did for Tampa Bay. The wide receiver and specialist has averaged 10.5 yards per punt return and 29 yards per kickoff return on the year. He joined a pair of Buccaneers starters on the perimeter as a full participant leading up to the trip to Foxborough.
