The New England Patriots returned off their bye week in style, at least as far as their win/loss column is concerned: the team of head coach Bill Belichick beat the New York Jets with a final score of 10-3, improving to 6-4 on the season and leap-frogging its division rivals in the standings.
The Patriots are now ranked No. 3 in the AFC East and the sixth playoff seed in the conference, standing one spot ahead of New York in both categories. They were able to do that thanks to their defense putting the clamps on the Jets, and to rookie Marcus Jones sealing the win with a 84-yard punt return touchdown in the final seconds.
