Despite hanging with the Green Bay Packers blow for blow, the New England Patriots eventually came up just short in Week 4. The Patriots lost 27-24 in overtime.
The game being close did come as a surprise, though. After all, the two teams entered the contest with Green Bay as a 9.5-point home favorite at Lambeau Field — in large part due to Patriots quarterback Mac Jones missing the game with an ankle injury.
Initially led by Brian Hoyer, the Patriots had to turn to their third-string QB early in the game. After Hoyer suffered a concussion on the second series, it was rookie passer Bailey Zappe’s time to shine. Zappe had some positive moments in his first NFL game, while the team as a whole showed some encouraging fight.
Fight alone does not win you a game, and the Patriots are still 1-3 at the end of the day.
