The New England Patriots did not wait long on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft to make their first pick. The third team on the clock, they picked Texas A&M guard Layden Robinson as their fourth total selection so far.

Robinson will add another layer of depth to a New England offensive line that had all sorts of issues in 2023.

4-103 G Layden Robinson (Texas A&M)

Bernd Buchmasser: One year after picking three interior offensive linemen, the Patriots went back to the well in Robinson. A developmental option with good length, he will compete for a backup role up front and possibly push one of the sophomores off the roster. The position was not the biggest need on paper, but the team apparently wanted to upgrade its depth nonetheless. | C

Brian Hines: Despite selecting three interior lineman in last year’s draft, New England adds another guard to start round four. Robinson comes with 33 career starts under his belt — all at right guard — and is a powerful player at the point of attack. | C

With Robinson in the fold, the Patriots now are eight players deep along their interior O-line.
