Joey Galloway Released

14

According to Mike Florio of ProFootball Talk: "Steve Duemig of WDAE in Tampa tells us that, indeed, Galloway has been released. Duemig contacted Galloway, who confirmed that he is indeed gone. Galloway signed with the Patriots in the offseason. In three appearances, he caught seven passes for 67 yards. Because he was cut before the trade deadline, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He also is entitled to collect the balance of his base salary as termination pay, regardless of whether he signs with a new team."

Kris Jenkins out for year

+

According to Adam Schefter per Tim Graham NT Kris Jenkins is done for the year with a torn ACL. It is always sad to see a player go down with a serious injury, but it is obviously very "good" news for the Patriots (and Dolphins). Before the season I thought the Jets had build a decent starting lineup but lacked depth, partly because they traded away so much for the Sanchize and Shonn Greene. Now the price has to be paid.

Tom not so terrific

Brady is inaccurate, and its obvious why. His lower body still isn't back to 100% strength. He isn't planting his feet like he should. This was to be expected though. Look at Manning from last year to this year. Brady just needs time.

It's Official. Patriots sign LB Junior Seau; Release DL Terdell Sands

The New England Patriots signed veteran linebacker Junior Seau today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Additionally, the Patriots released DL Terdell Sands. Junior Seau, 40, is a 12-time Pro Bowler, entering his 20th NFL season and his fourth with the Patriots. He was signed by New England last season on Dec. 5 after spending the first three quarters of the season out of football. Seau played in the final four games while helping New England to a 4-0 record in 2008. He finished the season with 29 total tackles in those four games, seeing action as a reserve in the first two contests and starting the last two games of the season. Seau has played in 31 games with 16 starts for New England from 2006-08. In his first two seasons with the Patriots, Seau totaled 146 tackles (92 solo), 4.5 sacks, three interceptions and five passes defensed.

FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots running back Fred Taylor underwent surgery today to repair severe ligament damage in his right ankle and could miss the rest of the season, according to a league source. The 33-year-old Taylor, who is the team's leading rusher this season through four games with 201 yards on 45 carries and two touchdowns, is facing the likelihood of being done for the year, according to the source. But there is a small chance that Taylor could return during the final month of the regular season depending on how his recovery progresses.

According to Mike Reiss: Veteran Fred Taylor will be sidelined because of a right ankle injury that requires surgery. The surgery isn't keeping Taylor out for the season, barring an unexpected complication, but he will still miss some time. The injury means the team's fifth running back, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, should now become part of the 45-man game-day roster. He has been active for only one of the team's first four games. Green-Ellis will join Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk in the backfield, and the Patriots will likely continue their committee-type approach.
