Competition drives the Jones brothers

Great feature on NFL.com "Chandler Jones follows the path of his brothers, Ravens DL Arthur Jones and UFC champion Jon "Bones" Jones, to become a pro athlete after being picked by the Patriots in the 2012 NFL Draft." Truly a great story, impossible not to love Chandler already.

Jeremy Ebert (WR) article

Tight end Drake Dunsmore drew the attention for Northwestern at the NFL combine last month. At the school's pro day Thursday in Evanston, it was his roommate's turn. Wide receiver Jeremy Ebert, who was not invited to the combine, worked out as if he should have been. Ebert ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, bench pressed 225 pounds 16 times and looked smooth in his route running and receiving. The performance had scouts buzzing and should help Ebert's draft stock. "Not getting invited to the combine kind of hurt, but I showed up today and showed them what I can do," Ebert said. "I've been told it's a very deep group of inside slot receivers this year," Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said. "I would put him up there with any of them. We think he's faster than maybe some people think based on watching tape." In positional work, Ebert was on the receiving end of a beautiful 50-yard bomb from Dan Persa. Ebert caught the pass with his back to the quarterback and his arms outstretched.

Jones projects to fit around 50-60% of snaps as the 4-2 and 4-3 fronts are 41% of snaps and he could play some snaps from the sub-3-3-5 package (33%). The Patriots hybrid defense opens a lot of options for Jones. Keep in mind that NT Vince Wilfork played "only" 50% of snaps in 2009 and he was also a first round pick from back in 2004.

Richard Hill on Twitter. Yeah, that's me. Shameless plug.

We'll now have three fullbacks in camp. At some point in time, Eric will have to fulfill two more years for the Navy - possibly in the reserves.
