The New England Patriots’ Week 16 game against the Buffalo Bills will take place under the banner of Health Care Hero Appreciation Night as the team announced.
A video was released by the Patriots accompanying the announcement featuring Stephon Gilmore, Gunner Olszewski, Adrian Phillips, and Chase Winovich: all four players talk about their personal connection to health care workers.
“Just to see her get up and put up her cape every day, and just go out there and be the best that she can... If they aren’t quitting then there’s no reason that I should be quitting either,” said Phillips, whose wife Camille is working as a pediatric resident at Texas Tech.
“We can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done, and are still doing. Y’all are on the front lines in this,” said Olszewski about health care workers and their roles during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The Monday night game between the Patriots and Bills will be kicked off on 8:15pm. Cardboard cutouts of health care workers will fill 900 of the empty seats at Gillette Stadium.
