With Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots as an unrestricted free agent earlier this offseason, the road appears to be clear for second-year man Jarrett Stidham to take over the team’s starting quarterback role. Before Stidham joined the Patriots as a fourth-round pick in last year’s draft, and before he spent his college career first at Baylor and later Auburn, however, he was playing high school football in Stephenville, Texas.
Despite playing in a town of just 20,000 people, Stidham quickly made a name for himself as one of the most impressive young passers in the country: during his senior season, he had 2,934 passing yards and 35 touchdowns while also contributing 969 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground as well. While he failed to lead the team to a state title, Stidham continuously showcased his talents as a dual-threat quarterback.
During his final days with the Yellow Jackets before heading off to college, Stidham was accompanied by Bleacher Report cameras. With him now on his way to fill the shoes of the greatest of all time, it is a good moment to go back and revisit the seven-minute documentary.
