The New England Patriots have a new quarterback, and while it remains to be seen how it works out one of the team’s veteran leaders seems to be eager to get to play with Cam Newton. Julian Edelman, the second-longest tenured player on the team behind special teams ace Matthew Slater, took to social media to shoot a simple message toward his new teammate: Let’s work.
Edelman’s post contains a photo of him and Newton in Patriots uniform (although not the new redesign presented earlier this offseason) and looks like this:

With the exception of a four-game stretch in early 2016, when Tom Brady was suspended, Edelman has spent his entire professional career playing alongside Brady. The two have developed one of the great quarterback-receiver chemistries in the NFL, but now the veteran pass catcher will have to build a similar rapport with Newton — which could prove to be a challenge considering that they did not have an offseason to work out together.
Still, the message sent by Edelman is a clear one: he is ready to get going.
