When the New England Patriots kick off their regular season on Sunday, Cam Newton will wear their uniform for the first time. And judged by a recent social media post from the former league MVP, he appears to be ready to hit the field for his first game with the team:

Newton, of course, arrived in New England earlier this offseason following a three-month stint as an unrestricted free agent. Before that, he had served as the Carolina Panthers’ starting quarterback for nine seasons — leading the franchise to just its second ever Super Bowl in 2015. A regime change, however, caused the Panthers to part ways with him in March.

Newton went on to sign a minimal-salary one-year deal with the Patriots to compete for the starting job following Tom Brady’s free agency departure. He won that competition versus Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer and will now start against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
