Stephon Gilmore is the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, a Super Bowl champion, and a two-time first-team All-Pro — accolades he all earned during the last two seasons. The New England Patriots’ top cornerback still has plenty in front of him, however, as a recent Instagram post of his illustrates:
Gilmore trying to reach the proverbial new heights (in case you’re wondering, the mountain shown in his post is the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps), is not the only thing that stands out about his post. The comment from one of the other top cornerbacks in the NFL also raises some eyebrows.
Jalen Ramsey of the Los Angeles Rams said the following, predicting that Gilmore will one day make the Pro Football Hall of Fame:
I’m tryna meet you at the Top big bru.. ikno yo Gold Jacket there already.
The “gold jacket” mentioned is an obvious reference to the NFL’s greatest individual honor. Gilmore, of course, would not be the first Patriot to make it: Mike Haynes was inducted in 1997, with Ty Law following him in 2019. Whether or not the 29-year-old joins them one day remains to be seen, but Ramsey sounds quite confident.
