Ex-Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett reminds people that he once won a Super Bowl

Did you know that Martellus Bennett once won a Super Bowl? If so, you are probably not the intended audience for one of his latest social media posts. The former NFL tight end, who retired from pro football back in March 2018, took to Twitter on Monday to remind people that he, in fact, can call himself world champion.

The game Bennett is referring to is obviously the New England Patriots’ legendary victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51. New England came back from a 28-3 deficit late in the third quarter to win the game 34-28 in overtime — the first Super Bowl that went to extra time and the biggest comeback in the history of the big game.

It was one of 21 total games that Bennett played as a Patriot, and one during which he caught five passes for 62 yards while serving as the team’s number one tight end.
