Fresh off a come-from-behind victory over the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots will have to turn the page quickly heading into their sixth game of the season. After all, a Dallas Cowboys squad awaits that is entering the contest with a 4-1 record and in first place in the NFC East.
Had a few more bounces gone New England’s way, the team could easily be 4-1 as well. However, as the old saying goes: you are what your record says you are. It is therefore no surprise that Bill Belichick’s team has opened the week as home underdogs against Dallas.
As of Monday morning, the Patriots are listed as 4-point underdogs, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under has been set at 48.
Based on how the season went so far and the inconsistency New England showed on both sides of the ball in Houston, it is not unreasonable to see the Cowboys as the favorites heading into this week’s game. Dallas has also won each of its last four games, including a 44-20 blowout of the New York Giants on Sunday.
