New England Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson had a tremendous day in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers. Not only did he allow just one 2-yard catch on four targets all day, the 25-year-old also registered two interceptions against Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold.
His efforts have now earned him a spot on Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week. Jackson is one of three cornerbacks on the team alongside the Cleveland Browns’ Denzel Ward and the Los Angeles Rams’ Jalen Ramsey.
Jackson intercepted Darnold twice in the second half, with the first of those picks being returned 88 yards for his first career touchdown. The Patriots’ number one cornerback took advantage of an overthrown pass by the Panthers QB and beat out wide receiver Robby Anderson in a race for the end zone.
Later, Jackson was able to out-leverage wide receiver D.J. Moore in the end zone to pick Darnold off a second time. His two interceptions ended two Panthers red zone opportunities in a game that was eventually won by New England with a final score of 24-6.
