Brandon King has not appeared in game for the New England Patriots in two seasons, but the veteran special teamer still had an important role to play earlier this week: King was tasked with cutting head coach Bill Belichick’s hair for a charitable purpose.
“Happy to be here with Brandon King to get my hair cut for Saving By Shaving to support Boston Children’s Hospital. And I want to thank Granite for promoting this and give me the opportunity to participate,” Belichick said. “So, Brandon: Cut away!”
And cut away he did, with Belichick later noting that his hair would now be shorter than it has been in quite some time.
The light-hearted video also includes scenes of him joking that he used to have more hair to cut off, and that the grey ones were the result of third-and-longs. Belichick also stated that he could not remember his last haircut where the barber did not use scissors on him; he believes it may have been “maybe when I was 12, 13 years old.”
The Saving By Shaving fundraiser was started by Granite Telecommunications CEO Rob Hale seven years ago and has since raised more than $2.2 million for cancer research.
