Back in 2017, then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made the cover of EA Sports’ Madden 18 video game — a perfect fit given that a so-called GOAT edition was also released. Of course, GOAT is short for Greatest Of All Time.
Since then, Brady has only added to the legacy as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and after winning his seventh Super Bowl earlier this year has made it back onto the Madden cover.
This time, however, he is not alone: the quarterback he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated in Super Bowl 55 is also on the cover. Kansas City Chiefs passer Patrick Mahomes, he himself a one-time champion, joins Brady as was announced by EA Sports on Thursday.
This is the first time since Madden 10 back in 2009 that two players have made the cover: Brady and Mahomes are following the footsteps of former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and current free agent wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
