Kyle Van Noy is no stranger to the spotlight. A former second-round draft pick with the Detroit Lions, he became an important member of two Super Bowl winning teams after getting traded to the New England Patriots midway through the 2016 season. After a one-year stint in Miami he is now back with the Patriots and set to enter the spotlight again.

Not only is Van Noy expected to play a prominent role for the team’s defense this year, he also will be the center of attention at Friday’s Boston Red Sox game versus the visiting New York Yankees: as the 30-year-old announced on Twitter, he will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the contest.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:10 pm. The Red Sox currently sit atop the AL East; they beat the visiting Yankees 5-4 the other day. The hope is that Van Noy’s presence will help them improve to 2-0 against their rivals.
